Service modes

Service modes

Purpose of service modes is to change service performance depending on various factors like:

There are 3 modes service can be in at any given time: NORMAL, SPECIAL and LIMITED. Each of them has intended purpose:

Only one mode is active at given time. If more than one mode have conditions met then modes will take precedence by order of LIMITED > SPECIAL > NORMAL. This precedence can be changed using behavior settings if there is need to have SPECIAL mode even for services in LIMITED mode.

Mode change is executed by sending Change of Authorization request or (if that fails or NAS don't support CoA requests) by sending Disconnect request from BlissRADIUS Embedded to NAS. Be sure to configure CoA settings properly for this to work.

Some mode changes can be done on the fly (without disconnecting), like when changing sessions Rate-Limit or some simple RADIUS attributes (Idle-Timeout, Session-Timeout, depending on NAS type).

Other complex changes (like changing Framed-IP-Address) always require session reconnect.
